C.C. "Spike" Ferguson, DMD

Clint Calvin Ferguson of Milton, WA was born to Emma B. Janeschefski and Robert William Ferguson on February 1, 1923 in Chicago, IL. He passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on March 10, 2008. His survivors are wife of 62 years, Carrie (Person); 2 sons: F. Paul (Judy), DDS in Auburn (Browns Point), grandsons Matt and Andy; Robert L. (Colleen) recent GM in the NFL (Seahawks) Chandler, AZ, grandaughters Allison, Nathalie, and Vanessa (Ken Rute); brother Robert (W. Seattle); sisters-in-law Mary Lou Ferguson and Eunice Evanger; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family lived in Kelso, WA briefly and settled in Tacoma in 1937, where Spike was a member of Stadium's class of 1940. In 1941 he enrolled at CPS (College of Puget Sound) in the WW II U.S. Navy V-12 pre-dental program, going to Willamette U. in Salem, OR, Baltimore, MD, and on to USS Bountiful Hospital Ship to post-bombed Japan. He graduated from U. of O. Dental School in Portland in 1949 and had been the president of his veteran's class for 3 years.

Dr. Ferguson's first self-practice was in 1949 in Enumclaw, WA. He was recalled after 3 years to the Korean War into the U.S. Army Dental Corps at Ft. Sill, OK, for 2 years. His second office was in Federal Way, WA, in 1955, and he moved to Auburn in 1956. Spike's last 25 years were in partnership with son Paul, retiring in 2000.

Dr. Ferguson was an early member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Federal Way, a life member of ADA, WSDA, Lions Club International, many civic, fraternal, and athletic groups, as well as past president of Dental Alumni, OSHU.

He will be remembered for his love of life, sense of humor, and in his later years for prize-winning apple/green tomato pies at the WW Fair, and canning and pickling from his "garden."

Family services were held. Inurnment was at Tahoma National Cemetery, Covington, WA.
